A
common query heard at shows and on the newsgroups is whether or not a certain
vehicle range is compatible with the figures of a particular manufacturer. Too
often wargamers spend out good money on vehicles only
to find they are too large or too small for the armies they are designed for.
This problem is all the worse given the huge variation in supposedly uniform
figure scales.
So
now at Sloppy Jalopy we have decided to produce ranges of vehicles specifically
designed to go with the leading figure ranges for selected periods.
We
began in 2003 with interwar vehicles to complement the larger 28mm figures
being produced for WW1, Back of Beyond and High Adventure games.
In
2004 we expanded into modern vehicles designed to complement the growing number
of companies producing 28mm modern ranges.
Then
in 2009 we bought Chieftain Models, formerly owned by our good friend Ian
Crouch who has been responsible for designing much of the Sloppy Jalopy moderns
range.
We
now have a rapidly expanding catalogue of vehicles for both these periods
created by some of the best designers in the business. In addition we have
begun to produce a range of drivers and passengers for these vehicles.
We
have lots of releases planned for both these ranges so do please keep coming
back to see what's new.
We
also like to hear what you would like to have on your table so let us know what
you would like us to produce next. Is there a particular vehicle that would go
just perfectly with your game? Is there a range of figures out there crying out
for armored support? Let us know and we will see what we can do.
New Releases
WW1
& Interwar
After
a long delay we have a couple of long awaited additions to our WW1 and Interwar
range.
First
of all there is the Ford AA Canvas Tilt - the version that features so
prominently in our logo. No pictures of that yet but they will be along
shortly.
What
we do have pictures of is our new 1910 Type-B bus. This ubiquitous London bus
not only served the Empire's capital for almost two decades but also took her
troops to war in flanders. This is a fabulous model
and the pictures hardly do it justice but if you are at any of the shows where
we are trading, be sure to pop by and take a closer look.

If you
buy one of our buses then be sure to check out our resource page where you will
find advertising hoardings and bus signs which can be downloaded and printed out
as decals.
Next
up for the IWV range will be military variants of the bus, some more WW1
lorries and more armoured cars.
Rumours abound also of bus crews and
something a little more pulpish.
Moderns
After
much delay we are now in the process of augmenting our modern range by
releasing the first of the vehicles formerly produced by Chieftain Models. We
are starting with the CVRts and now have available to
by the FV101 Scorpion, FV102 Striker, FV105 Sultan and FV107 Scimitar.

Looking
forward, the Israeli Mutt Jeep will also be available shortly.
We
will then start on the MBTs and are also looking to
expand the ranges even further over the next year.
